Windsurfing: WSM Wind Direction: W Wind Stength: F4-6 Surf / Sea State: Messy with big waves Air Temperature: 14C Sea Temperature: Weather: drizzly, overcast Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Looked breezy at home - despite the forecast - so thought I'd shoot down
for the evening tide.
Arrived @ 4:00pm to drizzle & a good, solid F4. People were out on 5.5s but
it felt to me more like 6.2m conditions, on the 86l Goya.
Perfect! There were some of the largest waves I've ever seen @ WSM, esp as
the tide came right up. Some of the highest jumps I've ever made! Wild
I came ashore to find a white transit slowly being devoured by the tide &
joined in with 7 or 8 others trying to push it back up the beach - owner
nowhere in sight. Struggled as we might, we couldn't shift it until a guy
in a car with some rope offered a hand. The car, plus 8 people pushing,
just about managed to get it free & pushed back up the beach. I'm not sure
if the owner ever noticed.
After that, the wind had picked up & I was well overpowered. I managed to
tear off a harness line landing from one jump. About time I learned to jump
unhooked! As there was only another 45 mins of daylight, I decided it
wasn't worth re-rigging.
Loads of people out - Nomads Al Donald turned up, as did Tony Low, Nigel
Poulton & Sav (just as it was going dark!). A really great session.
